U.S. economist Shiller: "No global, but European recession possible"

Robert James Shiller is a U.S. economist and the founder of the Case-Shiller-Index. Together with Karl E. Case and Allan Weiss he founded the index in the 1980s. In Davos Shiller was talking to DAF's Andreas Scholz about the global situation of the economy.

"The U.S. Fed is definately worried, because interest rate forecasts, people made, are quite low - for quite a long time", Shiller says at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The International Monetary Fund recently issued new global forecasts, which were sharply reduced.
Robert Shiller is concerned, that the crisis situation is looking a little bit more severe. "We don't seem to have any resolution of the European debt problem. We have austerity programs in place. It doesn't look good. Maybe not a global recession, but a European recession."
